About

LaVaughnia is finding her seat at the R&B table. The Maryland raised singer takes influence from the early decades of Blues and the modern voices of Neo-Soul to create a unique sound all her own.

After pandemic layoffs and the ending of a long-term relationship, the former airline worker took a chance on her first true love: making music. The artist went from demo recordings and voice memos at home to professional mixes recorded in hours long studio sessions.

Introducing herself with EP Stepping Into The Sun, the songwriter began her musical journey exposing vulnerability in her writing, sharing the first song she had ever penned “Ocean”, the most popular track from the debut. With each release since, LaVaughnia has uses similar life experiences and personal growth to shape the stories told through her music: expressing yearning for love & connection in singles like “Tempted” and "Call", while relaying her taste for karma in “When It Rains” from LP Here & Now

Weaving themes of love & lust, freedom & feeling lost, the singer-songwriter shares what everyday life looks like from her point of view and sometimes from the perspectives of those closest to her. LaVaughnia seeks to form long-lasting connections with her listeners using a hypnotizing voice and an unapologetic way with words that's relatable to all.
